چکیده
-The adsorption of the cationic oxidized safranine S + by a Na +, Ni 2+ and Fe 3§ montmorillonite has been studied with X-ray powder diffraction, u.v, visible and i.r. spectroscopy. In solution S + may be protonated: S +, SH e+ and SH~ + have characteristic spectra in the 500-600nm region where the clay structure does not absorb. In the Na + as well as in the Ni 2+ and Fe 3+ clays, the adsorption of S § is a cation exchange process accompanied by the protonation of the adsorbed dye such as variable concentrations of M + (Na +, Ni 2 + or Fe 3 +), S + and SH e + are simultaneously present. Protonation activity decreases from Fe 3+ to Ni 2§ and Na +, being the protonation site the amine group as shown by i.r. In the interlamellar space it seems that a SH2+. . S + association exists that could be described as a sandwich structure 6.5 A thick. I N T R O D U C T I O N Smectites such as montmorillonite have been used widely as adsorbents for various kinds of dyes (Grim, 1968). Safranine u has been shown to stain acid treated clays in relation to their mineralogical origin. Methylene blue has been studied by Pham Thi Hang and Brindley (1970) who have shown that both surface area and cation exchange capacity of clay minerals can be measured by adsorption from aqueous solutions. Safranine T. whose oxidized and reduced structure are shown in Figure 1, is a molecule of particular interest because its standard oxidation potential should allow redox reactions within the interlamellar space. Adsorption Equilibrium and Kinetics of Lead Ion onto Synthetic Ferrihydrites
Batch experiments were conducted to study the adsorption behaviors of lead ion (Pb2+) onto ferrihydrites prepared using three different procedures which were characterized by textural analysis (BET). The adsorption removal of Pb2+ by the three ferrihydrites (called FH-1, FH-2 and FH-3, respectively) were compared, and FH-3 shows fast adsorption kinetics as well as hig...
متن کاملAdsorption of Malachite Green from Aqueous Solution by Nanozeolite Clinoptilolite: Equilibrium, Kinetic and Thermodynamic Studies
The object of present study was to examine the adsorption potential of nanozeolite clinoptilolite (CP) for the removal of malachite green (MG) from aqueous phase in a batch equilibrium system. SEM, EDX, XRF, XRD and FT-IR techniques of characterization of zeolite were applied. The effects of initial pH solution, adsorbent dose, temperature, contact time and initial MG concentration on adsorptio...
متن کاملAn Experimental Examination of Adsorption Phenomenon in Foamassisted Water Alternative Gas: The Effect of Injection Rate
The main factor affecting the economics of foam-assisted water alternative gas (FAWAG) process is the loss of foaming agent by adsorption onto reservoir rocks. In this study, the effects of phases, surfactant concentration, salinity, adsorbents, and sacrificial agent on adsorption density were investigated by special adsorption experiments. Moreover, a series of FAWAG tests were performed to ex...
متن کاملEffect of activation factors on adsorption of cationic dye, methylene blue, by activated bentonite
The aim of this investigation was to study the relationship between activation factors and adsorption of cationic dye, methylene blue MB, by activated bentonite. The adsorption index was investigated as a function of acid type, time and temperature. A commercial bentonite was selected as a starting material and the effect of heat treatment on MB adsorption were determined in a batch setup. Thou...

In this work, zeolite 13X with porosity structure has been used as an adsorbent for adsorption of CO2 flue gas. The effect of operating conditions including pressure and time on adsorption capacity were investigated. The experiments conditions are constant temperature, the range of pressure 1 - 9 bar and the registration of adsorption capacity with passing of time. Experimental data were adjust...
متن کاملAdsorption of Remazol Black B Dye from Aqueous Solution Using Bagasse
The dye of wastewater is a major environmental problem. Chemical and biological treatment of wastewaters containing dye is difficult due to the low level of adsorption and chemical stability of dyes. Activated carbon is usually used for adsorption of these materials, but because of high prices and restore problems, researchers trying to find available, low-cost materials with high adsorption. I...
